My role in the creation of the website was to acquire photos, add content and browser testing. I found a lot of public domain photos from Morguefile and Dreamstime. I used photoshop to edit them to insure they were visually appealing and for consistency. I added alt tags to the images for accessibility. additionally, I was responsible for the layout and content of the Frequently Asked Questions and Resource and Glossary pages. The page that was most challenging for me was the resources page. I had to look back at some old html tutorials to get the coding correct. As I progressed on the creation of the resource page, I discovered some really interesting animated tools. The Energy Saver Center is an animated tool that will guide our viewers through a house to give them energy saving ideas. If that wasn’t specific enough for the users the “Save Energy @ Home” tool will give room by room improvements. I also worked on the the videos page. I used a video that would teach users how to set their programmable thermostats. Overall I thought this topic was really interesting and should be discussed more throughout the country.
We used a Google doc to communicate within our team. Take a look at our process! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlEBni1rexMcdFJaOFRUeWozVG41alBSRWlISnFJWWc&usp=sharing
When i was working on my pages i found some tools that i was really proud of. They all can be found on the Resources page. I highly suggest you take a look at them!
We won 2nd at regional so i would say this site is pretty good.
The thing we can most improve on is our presentation. We didn't have much time to practice as a group so it was really shaky and didn't go over to well when we were judged.
